Fall Hiking Elopement in Crested Butte
Adventurous Crested Butte Elopement
Krista + Nick
Krista and Nick both grew up in the same city, and even went to the same elementary and middle schools together. But it took until they were both in physical therapy school in Denver for them to meet. Together, they went through school, did their clinicals in different states, and made a big move to Washington. After getting engaged at Treehouse Pointe in Washington, they both agreed that a non-traditional and adventurous wedding was the perfect fit for them. Krista loved the idea of eloping in Colorado and having a wedding that truly reflected who they are as a couple. Nick loved that eloping would allow them to focus on each other and the start of their marriage without feeling like they were putting on a show.
When we first started planning their elopement, Krista and Nick already had their eyes set on the mountains of Colorado. They considered Aspen, Breckenridge, and even Vail. But it didn’t take long for them to set their sights on Crested Butte. The cute little mountain town is surrounded by some of the most beautiful views in the state and was a perfect fit for their elopement vision.
On the morning of their elopement, Krista and Nick got ready separately, then had their first look next to an alpine lake. We then hopped in our cars and drove to one of our favorite areas in Crested Butte to explore a couple of waterfalls. Then it was time for a charcuterie picnic with craft beer surrounded by mountain views. They laid out their picnic blanket and arranged meats, cheese, crackers, and fruit on their custom board.
For their ceremony, we met up with their families and took a short hike through an aspen forest. Their ceremony was officiated by their friend and their families gathered around them. The ceremony started quite emotionally, but it didn’t take long before everyone was laughing through their tears. In fact, Krista and Nick chose to do their family photos before the ceremony because Krista knew her family would cry too much during the ceremony to take photos afterward! After the ceremony, everyone returned to the large home they were sharing for a champagne toast, which turned into a champagne shower when both Krista and Nick decided to pop a bottle.
To end the evening, we all got back into our cars and took a Jeep road deep into the mountains outside of Crested Butte. We parked at the trailhead and started the steep hike to the final location of the day. There, they had their first dance right before the sun sank below the mountains behind us. It was truly the most incredible end to an amazing Colorado elopement day!
This elopement took place on Ute Land.
