Vow Renewal in La Push, Washington

Olympic National Park Roadtrip Elopement

Elisa + Jake

We first met Elisa and Jake when we captured a wedding together back in 2016. And ever since then, we've been kindling our long-distance relationship (E+J live four hours away in Grand Junction). Elisa is also a photographer and we knew that planning a vacation with them would include the perfect mix of laughs and photographic adventure.

After throwing around a few different ideas, we finally settled on a road trip starting in San Francisco and ending in Seattle. And let me just tell you, there is A LOT to see. We hiked through the redwoods in Redwood National Park, we explored tide pools and felt the force of Thors Well in Cape Perpetua, we ate at food trucks in Portland, we just about lost our minds over how beautiful Hoh Rainforest is, we felt the cold ocean winds on the beach in La Push, we climbed out to the northwesternmost point on the US at Cape Flattery, we swam in the freezing waters of Lake Crescent, and we had many many car dance parties.

Elisa and Jake are celebrating their 5th wedding anniversary this month, so as our trip got closer, they mentioned to us that they were considering renewing their vows in Washington. We were ecstatic! They chose to renew their vows while we were in La Push, because it was one of their favorite stops on their previous trip to the Pacific Northwest.

On the morning of their vow renewal, they got ready together in the Airbnb we shared. We then hopped in the car and drove up the Olympic Peninsula to a cute little town to pick up Elisa's bouquet. Our first major stop of the day was in Hoh Rainforest, which was breathtaking! We couldn't get over the soft forest floor, the ferns, and the moss. Elisa was so in love with it that she tried to convince Jake to let them say their vows right there in the forest!

Right before sunset, we started the short hike to La Push beach. We walked along the windy beach until we found the spot. Elisa and Jake said their vows to each other and then we all had a group hug. We then took shelter from the wind against the black basalt rock formations that line the beach. We ended up hiking through the foggy forest after dark and then returned to our Airbnb for some celebratory Oreos.
