Arches Hiking Engagement Session in Utah

Moab Pre-Wedding Adventure Session

Amanda + Brian

The day before Amanda and Brian’s elopement in Moab, we joined them for an afternoon Adventure Session. We recommended one of our favorite hidden gem arch hikes in Moab, and we were thrilled when they were excited about it, too. We met them at the trailhead and then started the hike to the arch. The hike isn’t too long or difficult, but there is a section that requires climbing a rock with the help of a cable. It’s quite the adventure!

Every once in a while, we stopped to rest and enjoy the view. There were only a few other hikers on the trail, so it often felt like we had the place to ourselves. Amanda is a geologist, so we talked about the rocks and how the canyon was created. Brian is an ecologist, so we paused to watch the birds fly by. Alex and I arrived a couple of days early to give ourselves time for some on-location scouting for their wedding (this is something we try to do for all of our out-of-state weddings). We had a few different options for their post-ceremony hike the next day, so we showed them photos whenever we took a break. One thing we love about elopements is that we can be flexible with time and location if we need to be (as long as we have permits taken care of). When we finally made it to the arch, we all stood in awe at its size. We ended the evening by watching the sun dip behind the red rocks.
