Sunrise Elopement with Dogs
Dog-Friendly Sunrise Lake Elopement
Alicia + Drew
When Alicia and Drew first started planning their Colorado intimate wedding at the very beginning of 2020, no one had the slightest clue what the fall of 2021 would look like. Initially, they envisioned having a mountain wedding with about 60 guests. But as time ticked away and a majority of their guests planning to fly in from the East Coast, Alicia and Drew agreed that they needed to adjust their plans. So they decided to elope in Colorado with just their two dogs, and then fly back to the East Coast to celebrate!
On the morning of their elopement, we met with them before sunrise. It was a cold September morning and a layer of fog floated above the surface of the lake. Drew walked the dogs down to the lake while Alicia changed into her dress. And as Alicia carefully walked down the steep hill to the beach, their dog, Scout, started barking at Alicia. Turns out, she was afraid of Alicia’s wedding dress! So while Alicia and Drew had their first look, Scout barked and their other dog, Kylo, stepped on Alicia’s train.
Alicia and Drew hiked down the beach to exchange their vows just as the sun really started to illuminate the mountains in the background. Their ceremony was simple and sweet, and they were both so excited to officially be husband and wife. After their ceremony, we explored the beach with their dogs and soaked up the warmth from the sunshine that had finally made its way to us. Alicia and Drew had their first dance overlooking the lake and tucked against some huge pine trees.
By this time, everyone had worked up an appetite, so we headed off to a second lake for their gourmet picnic. We absolutely love working with Zach, their private chef. When we arrived, he had already set up a table with fresh fruits and warm coffee. He then cooked them homemade chicken and waffles! A lakeside picnic together was the perfect way for Alicia and Drew to cap off their adventurous elopement morning!
This elopement took place on Ute Land.
