Kathmandu, Nepal
Travel Blog
Wayyy back in 2014, we set off on our very first international trip together. In fact, this was Alex's first trip out of the country at all! And it wasn’t easy to get there. From Denver, we flew to Los Angeles, then to Soeul, and finally to Kathmandu. It's not a stretch to say that our week in Kathmandu kicked off our love for exploring the world, and experiencing new cultures and their food.
Between the incredible people, the food (Thali and vegetable momos were our favorite), the Nepali tea, the temples, and the art (we bought a hand-carved singing bowl, and some hand-made woodblock prints), we couldn’t help but fall in love with Kathmandu.
During our week in Kathmandu, we stayed in a hotel with the most incredible view of the city, and every night we watched the lights turn on at Swayambhunath which was perched on the hilltop. Each morning, we took the twenty minute walk into Thamel for breakfast, each morning stopping at the same friendly restaurant. There, we ate thick pancakes and drank Nepali tea even though we are both sensitive to caffeine. We planned our days around visiting temples, exploring the little side streets, and taking cooking classes.
