When Allie and Seth first reached out to us about their Colorado elopement, they emphasized that including their two dogs, Judge and Melba was high on their priority list. We dove into planning knowing that Judge, the older of their two dogs, would need a little extra time to hike slowly on the trails. With this in mind, we opted to choose a location that was accessible by off-road trail, even changing their date to ensure that the road would be open.
One thing we love about elopements is the ability to be flexible. We can spend months planning the perfect elopement day, but sometimes we need to make changes on the fly, and that’s okay! The day before the elopement, Allie let us know that Judge had been injured jumping out of their car, and the hike we planned for was no longer going to be an option. Almost immediately, we mobilized and met up to brainstorm alternatives with Allie and Seth. We quickly adjusted their plans to make sure Judge was comfortable and could still be included.
One of the main reasons we love photographing Colorado elopements is because we know the state so well. So a last-minute change in plans (from an injured pup, a road closure, dangerous weather, wildfire smoke, etc.) isn’t stressful for us because we are confident that we can offer our couples incredible backup plans.
And while Allie and Seth’s elopement day looked a little bit different than originally planned, it was still just as beautiful. Their sunrise to sunset elopement adventure was filled with alpine lakes, wildflowers, incredible mountain views, pup shenanigans, and even stargazing to end the night.
