The Benefits of Hiring a 2-Person Elopement Photography Team

Your photos can be more dynamic and creative

Your photos can feel intimate and personal while also showing off the grandness of the landscape

One of us can stay close to you (usually Lisa) while the other can hike out to get a wider perspective (usually Alex). If the location and weather allows it, we can also capture some photos and footage with our drone, which will give you an entirely unique perspective of your elopement location.

Your photos will include two artistic perspectives

Even though we’ve been photographing elopements together for 11 years, we’ve still maintained our own, unique vision for photos. This is a big part of why our galleries are as dynamic as they are.

Having two elopement photographers, allows you to benefit from both of our creative ideas and visions.

Your photographers can be in two places at once

We can capture two things at once

There are a few times in an elopement day when it is helpful for us to split up and capture two different things at once. For example, before the first look, you will get ready separately and each of you can have one of us there with you. This is also helpful if you’re having an elopement with guests because one of us can be helping them and getting everyone into position for your ceremony.

We can take staggered breaks

During an elopement day, you won’t even notice that we are taking meal breaks because there will be no pauses in your coverage. We stagger our breaks so that one of us can always be with you.

One of us can hold your dogs

If you’re bringing your dog with you, there will be moments when you want to have a moment for just the two of you. Having two photographers will alleviate some of your stress for keeping your dog safe because there is always an extra set of hands to hold a leash.

We can seamlessly capture the journey

If your elopement day includes off-road driving, one of us can drive while the other can easily hop out of the car to get photos of you on the trail.

You will have a large variety of ceremony photos

You’ll have photos of the same moment from different angles

Because we can be in two places at once, we will capture the entire ceremony from different angles. This means that you will have photos of you and your guests’ reactions (if you have them) from the same moment.

Having multiple angles allows you to have photos that show off the strong emotions of the day while also incorporating the background and your guests.

One of us can stay close capturing photos that show your emotions, while the other one of us can step back and capture you within the landscape without missing anything.

Other moments that can’t be repeated such as your first look, first dances, and speeches will also be more well-rounded

Similarly to your ceremony, we can also capture other non-repeatable moments in this way. So that includes capturing both of your faces during a first look, capturing your family’s reactions to your first dance, and the fun and emotional moments during post-ceremony speeches.

Your photographers and videographers will be one cohesive team

In addition to elopement photography, we also offer elopement videography to our couples. This means that you won’t have to research and hire two separate teams for your photography and videography. You won’t have to worry about either team taking too much control or worry about whether everyone is getting the photos or video they need, because we are used to working together.

Capturing both photography and videography well is extremely difficult for a one-person team. We recommend you be cautious of people who offer both services without a second person to help them.

Your team will have the same vision and the same style

Your photos and films will feel like they belong together. For most of the day, we both switch seamlessly between mediums. So your photos and videos will have each of our unique perspectives. Then during your ceremony and other non-repeatable moments such as your first look, ceremony, and first dances, we each choose one medium (normally photography for Alex and videography for Lisa) to focus on.

If you’re having guests, the time with them will be a breeze

Seamless group coordination

Most of our couples do not hire a wedding planner or coordinator. So often, the task of making sure all of the guests are in the correct place and ready to go falls on the couple, which can feel overwhelming. Our goal is always to relieve stress for our couples. So one of us can be with you, while the other helps get your guests into place.

Your group photos will be quick and easy

We’re going to be real with you, group photos are super important, but sometimes it can feel a little bit like herding cats. Having two photographers allows one of us (usually Alex) to be in charge of following your group photo list, calling out names, and keeping everyone organized. That allows the other one of us (usually Lisa) to focus on posing everyone and taking the photos. This way we can speed through these photos so everyone can get back to enjoying themselves.

Your photographers won’t feel like a third wheel

Is it just us, or have you ever been hanging out in a group of three and felt like you were constantly thinking about making sure the third person felt involved in the conversation? This won’t be the case when you have two photographers. While we will of course spend time talking the four of us, you can also feel comfortable stepping aside to spend some time just the two of you without anyone being left out.

We are more than just hiring a “second photographer”

In the wedding photography industry, you might hear people talk about “second photographers” that are hired as contractors for some wedding days. While the main photographer may have worked with this second photographer before, it is a different experience than hiring a team of two photographers who work together for every wedding.

We work together on every elopement day, so we are fully experienced in working well together, communicating well, making sure that each of us feels comfortable sharing their vision, and we genuinely want each other to get the best possible photos possible for the couple we are working with. Unlike with a hired “second photographer,” we are fully equals. Neither of us is more in charge than the other.

Together, we put our all into creating an incredible experience for the couples we work with while providing them with the best photos possible.
