Sunset and Blue Hour Hiking Elopement in Colorado
Sunset Hiking Elopement in Colorado
Clint + Kaitlin
We met at the trailhead on the afternoon of Clint and Kaitlin’s elopement. Together, we got all of our bags packed and safely attached the garment bags with their wedding attire to Clint’s backpack. It was a perfect afternoon, the air warm but the clouds blocking the sun from beating down on us. We made our way up the trail together, talking about the land they bought and the house Clint was building.
As we approached the lake, other hikers kept stopping us to warn us that there were moose nearby, so we kept a close eye out to avoid a dangerous encounter. Clint and Kaitlin parted ways and changed into their wedding attire tucked behind some trees. And as they changed, we caught our first glimpse of two moose on the far edge of the lake. They ran together up a large snowbank and disappeared into the trees.
After their first look, they stood on the edge of the lake and exchanged their vows. It was so much fun to watch Kaitlin’s excitement as they exchanged rings and had their first kiss as husband and wife. They celebrated by popping “champagne” which was actually sparkling water and continuing their hike to stand at the top of a waterfall and then have a mini picnic as the sun set.
It was such a beautiful night and we stayed at the lake until we had to take out our lanterns and headlamps to see. We hiked down in the complete darkness and then capped the night off with a little bit of stargazing.
This elopement took place on Ute and Cheyenne Land.
