September Elopement in Breckenridge
Fall Elopement in the Colorado Mountains
Amy + Chris
Amy is from Illinois and Chris is from Manitoba. They met online in 2016 and now live in Phoenix together. They got engaged while hiking in Sedona and quickly made plans to elope in Banff, Alberta. Everything was planned when they heard the heartbreaking news that the US Government placed travel restrictions surrounding applications for green cards, and they wouldn’t be able to travel out of the country. Everything had to be canceled and they began the stressful task of deciding what to do next. That’s when they got in touch with us.
We jumped in to help them find a location that would give them some of the views that they hoped to find in Banff. They told us that they wanted amazing mountaintop views for their ceremony and to be able to stand at the edge of a tall mountain. They also wanted to see amazing fall colors, and to be able to visit an alpine lake with a dramatic mountain backdrop. So while it might not be Banff, that’s exactly what we found.
On the morning of their Colorado elopement (which was also the same date that they first met two years earlier), we met them at their adorable A-frame cabin. There, they got ready together and Chris made his famous “Caesar” cocktail, which is a Bloody Mary’s Canadian cousin. They got dressed separately and then had their first look in the forest behind the cabin.
Next, we headed off to their ceremony site, which required a 40-minute drive and an uphill hike. But it was all worth it! Amy and Chris said their vows to each other with the most incredible mountain views in the background and not another soul in sight.
For the rest of the afternoon, we explored mountaintops, alpine lakes, roads lined with bright yellow leaves, and even a rocky beach. The entire time, Amy and Chris were laughing and joking with each other. They have such a playful relationship and we had so much fun capturing them.
We ended the evening by ordering a pizza at a brewery back in town. I don’t know about you, but that kinda sounds like the perfect end to a wedding day.
This elopement took place on Ute and Cheyenne Land.
Location Disclaimer: The location with the alpine lakes no longer allows weddings or elopements. We no longer come to this location with our couples.
