Iceland is undeniably one of the most beautiful places in the world. Within a short drive, you can see black sand beaches, lava fields, volcanoes, waterfalls, fields of purple lupines, Icelandic horses, and the most picturesque churches you can imagine. Heather and Mike have traveled the world together, but they chose to return to Iceland for their wedding. Something about the country has a way of drawing people back to it and it always has new places to explore.

As we worked with Heather and Mike to plan their elopement, we made a list of things we wanted to see together. The list grew and grew. Until finally, we realized that this couldn't all fit into one day. So we planned a four-day elopement adventure and we wouldn't have had it any other way! We drove a total of about 1,415 km (880 miles) across Iceland.

On our first day together, we drove from Reykjavik to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. The weather was gloomy and rainy, but that didn't stop us from hiking and exploring a little bit. That night, we stayed in the cutest little red house in Borgarnes.

The next morning, they got married at the Black Church in Budir. Their ceremony was officiated in a mix of both English and Icelandic. The priest was incredible to work with. He not only helped them coordinate their legal marriage but also wrote the perfect ceremony for them, which included some great advice as well as a few jokes. That afternoon, e drove around the entire peninsula, stopping at a lighthouse, some towering cliffs, and the most beautiful lupine field we've ever seen (which was home to one of the grumpiest birds we've ever met).

The following day we then drove down the South Coast and made a few stops along the way. We stayed at another adorable Airbnb cabin in the middle of nowhere outside of Hella. The property had friendly horses and we spent a lot of time feeding and petting them. We then continued down toward Vik, stopping in the most stunning lupine field and at a couple of caves. That evening, we cooked spaghetti for dinner in our cabin.

On our final day, we drove back to Reykjavik in time for their tattoo appointments at Icelandic Tattoo Corps. They each got Icelandic staves done by Habba Nero. Then we walked to the Old Reykjavik Graveyard to take photos of their new tattoos.

We feel so fortunate that Heather and Mike invited us to join them on this adventure. We will never forget the laughs, the sunny days, late nights, and early mornings. But mostly, we're so thankful for their friendship.
