Hiking Elopement with Family in Colorado
Hiking Elopement with Family
Sarah + Tyler
On the morning of Sarah and Tyler’s elopement, we met at the dark trailhead. We packed up our bags and turned on our headlamps before starting our short but steep hike. We reached the top just as the horizon started to glow. Sarah and Tyler climbed out onto a huge rock that overlooked the lake below. As the sun continued to rise, Sarah and Tyler separated to change into their wedding attire for their first look. It was cold out, but Sarah braved the cold temperatures in her wedding dress.
Next, we hiked to a gorgeous alpine lake and then to a waterfall, seeing a group of mountain goats along the way. It was such a beautiful early-fall morning and as we often see in Colorado, we all warmed up as soon as the sun was up! After a morning of exploring, we hopped in our cars to meet up with their families and dog at a trailhead.
Together, we all hiked up the trail to their ceremony location. Once we had all arrived at the top and had a moment to catch our breath, they started their ceremony. The ceremony was officiated by Sarah’s aunt and was absolutely beautiful. Everyone was alternating between tears and laughter. After the ceremony, everyone celebrated with a toast before Sarah and Tyler’s guests started their hike back to the trailhead. To cap off their elopement adventure, Sarah and Tyler explored with their dog for just a little bit longer before returning to their families for cake.
Location Disclaimer: The location with the waterfall and the alpine lakes no longer allows weddings or elopements. We no longer come to this location with our couples.
