LGBTQ Elopement in RMNP
Romantic Colorado Elopement in Rocky Mountain National Park
Bria + Da'lynn
We first started talking to Da’lynn and Bria two years before their Colorado elopement. At the time, we hadn’t even opened up our 2021 schedule yet. But after getting to know them better, we decided to make an exception. Together, we started the two-year planning and waiting process.
By the time Da’lynn and Bria’s elopement day was finally here, we were all so excited. Part of us couldn’t believe that the wait was finally over! We met them at their gorgeous Airbnb which was located next to a river and tucked down a dirt road in the forest. Wanting to build up the anticipation, Da’lynn and Bria spend the night separately and got ready in opposite parts of the house. Once they were both ready for their first look, Bria walked down to the backyard first and then Da’lynn followed. First looks are our favorite because they seem to immediately alleviate the nerves! There’s just something about finally seeing each other all dressed up that melts any worries away.
Once they were ready, Bria packed up their picnic basket and we all headed out to Rocky Mountain National Park. Our first stop was to a big open meadow in the park that has a river running through it. It was a priority for Da’lynn and Bria to cleanse their rings in the water before the ceremony. So they took turns, Da’lynn cleansing Bria's ring and then Bria cleansing Da’lynn’s rings.
Next, we headed to Sprague Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park for their elopement ceremony. Alex started their ceremony with a reading to set the tone for Da’lynn and Bria to read their vows. Both of their vows were full of smiles and laughs, as well as pauses to collect themselves. Finally, it was time to exchange rings and have their first kiss. After such a long wait, we all burst into cheers when they were officially wives!
It can be difficult to eat a full meal before your elopement. To start, you’re busy getting ready and making sure you have everything, but there are also nerves that can affect your appetite! So by the time the ceremony is over, our couples are usually hungry. So often, we head straight to a picnic! Da’lynn and Bria chose to have their picnic at Hidden Valley. It’s one of our favorite picnic spots in Rocky Mountain National Park because it’s easy to find spots that are tucked away in the forest. The day before their elopement, Da’lynn and Bria picked up an entire picnic setup from one of our favorite shops in Boulder. It came with a picnic basket as well as drinks and a delicious charcuterie lunch. After popping their champagne, Da’lynn and Bria sat together at a picnic table and tried out all of the cheeses, dips, and veggies.
Once they were finished with their picnic, we drove up to the top of Trail Ridge Road for sunset. This is one of our favorite spots in Rocky Mountain National Park because the views are incredible! And on the way up, we got to see the most incredible double rainbow! Being so high up on the mountaintops, it was pretty chilly up on Trail Ridge Road. Da’lynn and Bria cuddled up to keep warm and admired the expansive views. Slowly, the sun sank behind the mountains and the skies lit up with the most amazing pinks. We love sunset elopements because of the calmness and quiet that sunsets bring. There is nothing better than cuddling up with your spouse and watching the day change to night.
This elopement took place on Ute, Cheyenne, and Arapaho Land.
