Treehaus Colorado Elopement

Back in college, Hannah and Grant met when Grant moved into a house with Hannah’s friends. Upon seeing him, Hannah immediately texted “dibs” to her group chat, and it wasn’t long after that they started dating, and quickly became inseparable. In fact, when Hannah’s work brought her to Colorado in 2017, Grant followed as soon as he could!

For their wedding day, they both quickly realized that a wedding would very easily become a several hundred-person affair, and that just didn’t sit right for them as a couple. They craved something intimate, a night filled with joy, love, and something that felt cozy. Good food and including their rescue Greyhound, Zoey, were also a must. And all of the details ended up leading us to a wonderful, intimate wedding venue called Treehaus Colorado.

We started the day at a home they rented, large enough to accommodate them and Hannah’s immediate family. While the boys played cornhole, Hannah finished the final touches of getting into her dress. She wore adorable high heeled boots, to both even out the height difference between them and have a little bit of traction for getting around the rocky property. Her dress was a beautiful last minute purchase, after her previous dress had been ruined in alterations just a week before the wedding. Ever the trooper, Hannah explained that she actually loved the new dress just a bit more than the other one anyhow. Zoey had to get in close to inspect but she seemed to approve as well!

And because Zoey is a bit of a momma’s girl, she also joined Hannah for their first look. But a really good smell led her just past Grant, causing a bit of a mix-up before they could finally see each other all “dolled up” for their wedding day. Their family and friends all flocked to the deck and second floor balcony above to look down into the woods at them. So they took the opportunity to hand Zoey off for just a bit while the four of us did a bit of rock climbing.

Not real rock climbing of course, but as close as they could comfortably get in their wedding attire. We made our way to the top of a rocky outcrop next to the house to take in the views below, and the two of them had to cuddle together for warmth. We watched as the clouds swirled in the distance, revealing and then concealing the mountains beyond. Eventually, those clouds made it to the top of the rock, and as they began to get rained on we decided it best to break out an umbrella and carefully climb back down. In typical Colorado fashion, the clouds were gone mere minutes later, and we headed to Treehaus under a bright, sunny sky.

Now came the nerves. It was ceremony time. Tucked into the forest, standing beneath the platform of the tree house that the venue gets its name from, Hannah’s uncle led them in their ceremony. Log benches filled with their guests, Hannah and Grant laughed their way through her Uncle’s anecdotes and stories, and then shed a few tears at the vows they had prepared for one another. It was sweet, purposeful, and also succinct. Just the way they imagined it.

After some family photos, we explored the property. There’s a gorgeous yurt set up just a small walk from the main space, and also an airstream, both of which are available for guests. But the star of the show really is the reception space, a deck attached to the old house that has been closed in with just windows and clear siding, allowing all sorts of light to fill the small space. Expertly decorated by the small team behind the venue, it’s one of our favorite spaces for an intimate meal we’ve ever been to.

So as they munched on course after course of delicious Italian food, and Hannah’s parents gave a touching speech about the connection between these two, we couldn’t help but feel like Hannah and Grant got just the night they had been hoping for.
