Elope in Aspen, Colorado
Maroon Bells Elopement
Sheyann + Tyler
Sheyann and Tyler live in Tennessee, but they decided to come all the way to Colorado to elope near Aspen. On the morning of their elopement, Sheyann’s hair and makeup were done in a salon in Aspen, while Tyler got ready in their hotel. They had their first look on the balcony of their hotel before we all climbed into our cars and headed toward the Maroon Bells.
It’s common for the mountains of Colorado to have afternoon thunderstorms in the summer. As we drove up the road toward the parking lot at the Maroon Bells Amphitheater, the sky was getting darker and darker. The wind blew fiercely and thunder boomed overhead. One of the best parts about eloping is the ability to be flexible, so that’s exactly what we did. We waited the storm out, and sure enough, the sky cleared and the sun came back out! We hiked up to the Maroon Bells Amphitheater and they said their vows, exchanged rings and had their first kiss.
By the time their ceremony was over, we were all very hungry. So we drove back into Aspen and picked up some slices of pizza for lunch. As we ate, we all agreed that giant slices of pizza make the best wedding day meal. We don’t typically photograph people while they’re eating, but we had to make an exception today!
Next, we explored a stunning mountain meadow. Sheyann and Tyler decided not to do a first dance, but they still wanted to do some twirls to show off Sheyann’s gorgeous wedding dress. We ended the evening at the top of the mountain during golden hour. Even in mid-summer, the alpine wind is very chilly, but Tyler held Sheyann close to keep her warm, which sounds like the perfect end to a wedding day anyway right?
This elopement took place on Ute Land.
