Mountain Elopement at Woods Walk
Adventurous Elopement in Crested Butte
Maddi + Daniel
About halfway through their first date, Maddi texted her mom saying that she was going to marry Daniel. Eight months later, on Christmas morning, Daniel proposed in their living room. And only a few days after, they reached out to us about their elopement in the mountains. You can’t convince us that isn’t the definition of a whirlwind!
When they first started discussing where they wanted to get married, Daniel suggested Crested Butte. He hadn’t been there in years but mentioned that it was one of his favorite places in the state. Maddi had never been to Crested Butte, but she trusted Daniel’s judgment. We immediately backed him up and agreed that Crested Butte is the perfect place for a mountain elopement in Colorado.
On the morning of their wedding day, we met Maddi and Daniel at sunrise at a gorgeous lake near Crested Butte. For being the middle of summer, it was a bitterly cold morning, and frost covered the grass at the edge of the lake. Daniel waited next to the lake and watched the fog hovering over the water while Maddi made her way down to meet him. Upon finally seeing each other, and releasing some of the built-up nerves, they were nothing but smiles. They exchanged their vows on a hill overlooking the lake and surrounding mountains. Then we stepped back and gave them a few minutes to themselves. Maddi cuddled up on Daniel’s lap and they enjoyed the morning sun together.
When planning their day with them, Maddi and Daniel decided that their breakfast picnic just wouldn’t be complete without a cake. So after picking up their funfetti wedding cake, we headed off down a bumpy dirt road, to enjoy it at a different lake outside of Crested Butte. We found a picnic table surrounded by aspen trees and wildflowers and lingered in the shade while we ate cake for breakfast (and some fruit for health) before exploring the lake.
They ended their wedding afternoon by having an intimate ceremony with their families. Maddi surprised her dad by asking him to walk her down the aisle, and the ceremony was officiated by Daniel’s good friend. It was short and lighthearted, and then, finally, Maddi and Daniel got to have their first kiss! The experience from start to finish was beautiful. And if their wedding and relationship thus far are any indication, the whirlwind has only begun!
This elopement took place on Ute Land.
