Adventure Engagement Session in Washington
Mount Rainier National Park Adventure Session
Michaela + Caleb
After getting married in Iceland and moving to Seattle, Washington in 2019, then enduring a pandemic together in 2020, it’s fair to say that Michaela and Caleb have had quite the year (and some change). After their first summer in their new Pacific Northwest home, Michaela and Caleb still hadn’t had the chance to explore much. So we were so excited to explore Mount Rainier National Park with them!
Originally, we planned to go for a hike up in Paradise, Washington. This area is located within Mountain Rainier National Park and offers incredible rocky, lush, alpine views. But two days before the Adventure Session, a big snowstorm came through and the road up to Paradise was closed. So we stuck with a section of the park at a lower elevation and it was just as beautiful! To start, we hiked through a snowy forest together. Another snowstorm was scheduled to come through later that afternoon, so the clouds hung low over the snow-covered mountains and completely blocked our view of Mount Rainier.
Wanting to escape the snow, we hopped in our cars and drove into the rainforest. We found a wide, rocky riverbed, and Michaela and Caleb hopped from rock to log to rock. We then followed a path through the lush and green rainforest. Finally, we climbed up a short but steep trail to the foot of a waterfall. Caleb joked about climbing to the very top, but Michaela gently kept him at her side.
Washington is one of those magical places where there is beauty around every turn. And even though we had to adjust our plans due to a road closure, it was still a gorgeous and fun afternoon!
