COVID-19 Safety

Hi Friends!

We know these last few years have been a whirlwind for all of us. As we’ve all seen, things are continually changing, projections get updated, and new variants take over. We’re doing our best to keep up with all of the new information, and have created this resource to let you know all about our current response to Covid-19. Please note that our recommendations might change over time.

Updated January 2025

We are both fully vaccinated and boosted! We will continue to keep updated with any additional boosters.

According to the state, your elopement can still be a “go” without adjustments if:

  • Local regulations (including city, county, and state) are open for gatherings of your group size and non-essential business and travel.

  • The National Park, National Forest, park, or venue you’ve chosen is open, allowing permits/events, and can accommodate your guest count.

  • All attending have not been instructed to quarantine/self-isolate.

Our Covid-19 guidelines for elopements

  • We will not be carpooling with our couples, their guests, or other vendors.

  • We will keep all coverage outdoors and will not be entering hotels, rentals, or restaurants on elopement days.

  • We ask that you let us know if you or any of your guests are feeling unwell. This can allow us to reschedule with you, if necessary, or wear our masks so that we don’t catch any illnesses from your group.

Why we are keeping these Covid-19 guidelines

Since 2020, we have seen many other wedding photography and videography teams get Covid-19 during wedding season and have to scramble to find replacements for their couples. Of course, getting Covid-19 is always a risk, but our intention with keeping all coverage outdoors is to minimize the risk of infection at all of our elopements and to help keep all of us safe and healthy.

We are modifying coverage to either not include getting ready, or to move it outdoors. The same goes for indoor reception coverage (such as indoor dinners at a rental house or a restaurant). For most of our couples, this hasn't really changed anything as we typically focus our coverage outside where photos and videos will look better anyway.

What we expect going into 2025 and 2026

We will be moving forward with all of our 2025 and 2026 elopements. We will continue to keep all of our Covid-19 safety measures in mind when making plans with our couples. This includes keeping all coverage outside and no carpooling. As always, we recommend that all of our couples consider wedding and travel insurance.

 What previous years looked like

We captured all 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 elopements as planned. We continued to follow the rules and guidance from the state and the CDC, and kept all of our Covid-19 safety measures in place.

All of our March, April, and May 2020 elopements were rescheduled. We were able to move forward with all elopements taking place between June and December 2020. Due to rising Covid cases and wildfires, some of our 2020 elopements in October, November, and December required major changes to location and guest count to comply with safety regulations.

What we’re doing as Covid conscious photographers

Since the pandemic began in 2020, we have taken a serious, careful, and intersectional approach to life with Covid-19. In order to minimize our risk of illness, we wear masks whenever we are in public indoor spaces as well as in crowded outdoor spaces. Our favorite masks for high-risk environments are 3M Aura 9210+ N95 masks. For lower-risk environments we wear Powecom KN95 masks.

We are fortunate that we can capture elopement days completely outdoors. While we do not typically wear masks on elopement days (being outdoors allows for better ventilation and makes it easy to give each other space), however, we are more than happy to wear our masks outdoors if requested by our couples. In addition, we bring hand sanitizer and hand wipes as well as disinfecting wipes for us to use while photographing in the backcountry.
